Hello Interwebs! Welcome to TPM’s June news update. Read on for production news, graphic novel progress, and still more!
Pre-production Projects
OK. Now that you’ve clicked on the article, I’ll admit it: I lied. There’s not a lot to share with you this month… But there’s not nothing. For one: I wrote a new comedy sketch! I’m excited to share it with you within the next few months (ideally). And I’ve starting penning another comedy script too! I’d tell you their titles but they kinda give away the ideas, and I’m not comfortable announcing them officially at this time… Stay tuned though!
Production Projects
Most of TPM’s core team has received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine! We’re still not in a position to re-start filming, but we’re getting there. Just be patient. Progress is on the horizon and we’re moving towards it. Unfortunately, our company vessel is built with sails, so we only move as far as the wind allows… Right now we’re just riding the tide and waiting for a gale.
In other news: our team recently debated pulling the plug on Retribution Isle. It’s been nearly a year since we started production and we’re not even halfway through yet! I don’t want to say our emotional investment in the product is completely gone but it’s definitely at its lowest. Yet we’ve already put in so much time it’d be a shame to scrap our good work now!
We just want to finish and move on but still put out a good quality product. I promise we’re not going to half-ass this thing. But we’ve got to adjust our original story if we want to get this movie done at all. Right now we’re looking into cutting the film down so we can get through it faster. We’re hoping to trim the fat without compromising. And so far we’re doing a decent job of it (so far as I can tell).
Post-Production
Throughout June I added some more CGI background effects to RI clips. I hate to admit it, but I’m slowing down on that project… My goal was to get at least one finished per month but I don’t know if I’ll accomplish that much by the end of June. I’ve been busy. But I’ll still aim to have it done! Gotta admit, it’s burning me out though.
Graphic Novels
GUILD OF GALLANTRY
This month I penned a story titled “Breaking Up the Power Couple”: A mid-tier-hero and her sidekick struggle through the last week of their partnership. The sidekick is slated to become an independent hero on his 18th birthday, but unresolved feelings between he and his mentor might get them both killed before they even have to get goodbye.
Perhaps the most fun aspect of writing The Guild of Gallantry is that every story is unique. Each adventure follows new characters navigating their own challenges and worlds (with a few cameos and crossovers for good measure). I never get bored writing for this universe because there’s so much variety in people, places, and problems. I hope you’ll feel the same when reading it!
